Got a bike last weekend. Jen wanted a bike for her birthday, so we went to Frank's Bike Shop on Sunday to go shopping. Before Sunday, I was dead set on getting a scooter (like a Vespa), but I decided to join Jen and get a bike and maybe get a little more exercise. Oh yeah, and I guess scooters cost a lot more, too, so double bonus.
Bike theft is a big problem in New York, so we bought these crazy six-pound Kryptonite chains and locks, which cost half as much as the bikes! We rigged Jen's bike up with a basket on the front in case she wants to throw a chicken in there or something.
We rode home to Brooklyn over the Williamsburg bridge, but about halway through the trip Jen had a blowout on the back tire. I guessed they pumped it up a little too much. So we had to take them on the subway to get home. She had it fixed the next day and we went for a ride through Prospect Park.
I wish we'd thought to do this in the beginning of Summer...
